Frame interval and size

Use an interval of one frame for boundary work. Increase it to inspect a wider scene around the current position. The plus and minus shortcuts provide quick interval changes without opening the dialog.

Thumbnail height controls the visual detail and, together with window width and source aspect ratio, determines how many cells fit. SmartCut64 avoids stretching or centre-cropping the pictures.

Labels and waveform

  • Enable thumbnail timecodes when a frame/time label is useful inside each cell.
  • Show or hide the decoded audio waveform independently of thumbnail pictures.
  • Use logarithmic dB amplitude (the default) to reveal low-level detail, or linear amplitude when absolute peak shape matters.

Performance

A large strip, tall cells and a wide interval can require more independent seeks. The hardware self-test can recommend a decoder per codec, but software fallback remains available when a driver path is slower or unreliable.
