Open Adjust Audio
- Open an indexed source and select an audio track with Tools > Select Streams.
- Mark a short passage, then choose Tools > Adjust Audio.
- Set Audio sync adjustment to delay audio with a positive value or advance it with a negative value. The available range is -1000 to +1000 ms.
- Enable Repeat Selection to loop the marked passage. Choose a visible event such as a clap, door closure or speech consonant to judge synchronization.
Set output volume and audio format
Enable Override profile audio settings for this project, then set Output gain between -60 and +24 dB and choose an Audio format. The project gain and format replace the profile's audio settings rather than adding to them. Sync remains a project setting even when the gain/format override is disabled.
Source codec retains the source format, sample rate, channel layout and detected bitrate where supported. Other choices are AAC, AC3, MPEG audio (MP2), PCM (16-bit) and Opus, and retain the profile's sample-rate and channel settings. MP2 supports mono or stereo; with channels set to Match source, surround audio is downmixed to stereo for MP2. Choose a format supported by the destination container.
Gain affects the first selected audio track in preview and output. Other selected audio tracks retain their original level. Changing gain re-encodes audio while video retains the chosen export mode. Positive gain can clip; Run LKFS Scan can calculate a gain with optional peak headroom.
Preview, accept or cancel
Repeat Selection auditions the current sync and gain. The main speaker slider and mute shortcut change listening volume only; they do not change the exported level.
Choose OK to retain the adjustment or Cancel to restore the settings from before you opened the dialog. Reset Sync and Gain sets those two values to zero; it does not change the selected format or disable the profile override. Source codec at 0 dB leaves audio copied unless another setting requires encoding.
Save and reuse the settings
Native .smartcut projects retain these settings, as do recovery journals, Undo/Redo, queued editor exports and edited Joiner items. Each edited Joiner item carries its own adjustment.
Save adjusted projects in the native format. VideoReDo project export cannot preserve these audio settings and reports the incompatibility instead of silently discarding them.
Verify after export
Check the beginning, a middle position and both sides of an edit boundary in a second player. A constant offset differs from drift caused by incorrect timestamps or frame-rate interpretation; QuickStream Fix may be more appropriate for damaged timing.
